Small Business Awards

One of my Laundromats, Washin Golden Springs Coin Laundry was nominated for the Small Business of the Year award earlier this month.

Small Business of the Year Nominee

Tonight my family and the staff at my brick and mortar business are going to the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce Small Business Awards.

As many of you know I own a chain of Laundromats and split my time between the operation of them, which is not actually that much time, and internet marketing. Each of these is part of the plan for our future. The business income from the Laundromats is being used exclusively to pay down debt and the advertising budget is spent on the online activities.

Back to the awards. One of my Laundromats, Washin  Golden Springs Coin Laundry was nominated for the Small Business of the Year award earlier this month.

The award ceremony included 2 tickets to the gala, dinner, and reception. A few days later I decided that I wanted to involve my kids so they could see the other side of the business and how important it is to engage with the business leaders. In this case the community business leaders but it is also important to engage with business leaders in any industry whether it be local events, regional meetings or national events.

As my staff is the face of the business it only seemed right to involve them as well. The business could not run as well without their efforts every day. The customer service they provide and the level of professionalism is why we have so many loyal customers and friends.

Of course there is always the unexpected consequences, though not always bad, and in this case, they involved, what to wear, dress shopping, how long will it take to get ready, what time do we close the store etc.  My comments about the store closing were ” Whenever you need to leave to get ready, just make sure we let the customers know.”

It should be a fun night and I am honored to have our business among the list of nominees.

Congratulations to all of the Nominees:
