Dexter F13 Alarm and Inverter Replacement

An F-13 Alarm occurred on the display of the Dexter Washer. Pictures were taken of the Inverter at various times of the troubleshooting.

The machine was unplugged for 5+ minutes and plugged back in.
The same F-13 alarm was displayed.

It was determined the problem was most likely a bad inverter.

I ordered the new inverter and when it arrived I headed in for the repair. The plastic around the part in the box had been opened but there did not appear to be any concerns with the new inverter.

The video below shows the steps to replace the inverter and some key points to check.

After the new part was installed it came time to plug it back in.

There is one key item with all things electrical. They all have smoke inside of them. Nobody is really sure how the smoke gets in there but if it gets out, the parts don’t work.

Well once the machine was plugged back in there was a flash from the side of the inverter and the smoke got out.

I unplugged the machine and double checked all of the connections against the pictures I had taken at the start.

Everything looked OK. When I originally switched the wires I made a point of switching them one at a time and checking each terminal ID as I went.

I have put a bunch of information together and sent it to the distributor to see if we can determine what went wrong and have it repaired or replaced.

Stay tuned for updates…..
