Kids And Marketing- What Can You Learn

Recently I was on a vacation with my wife and kids in Washington DC. On the way home the kids were reading their reports and I started thinking about how the response to what they saw needs to be considered when you market your business.

Yes I know nobody liked to write a report about a field trip but it didn’t take too long and it was a long drive anyway.

Let me paint the picture. We traveled with 3 teenage girls to Washinton DC and the surrounding area for 3 days plus 2 travel days. We toured the National Mall, some battlefields, small towns, the Air and Space Museum and visited some friends.

Our friends laid out most of the tour as they had a better idea of the area. As many parents know, you are never sure what your kids find interesting or what they remember the most. The results sort of caught me by surprise when they read their reports.

Although they had all been everywhere together the reports were very different. Where one had a lot of detail about something the others brushed over it. Or should I say… flew past it?

It’s something to keep in mind when marketing that you need to make changes and monitor what works best in your market. It may be something as subtle as the color of an ad, or the picture that makes a difference.

It’s OK to keep logos and brand colors but doesn’t be afraid to make other changes. Your name/brand/logo may be very familiar to someone that has seen it many times but what does it say to somebody the first time?

Does your marketing explain your goods or services quickly and allow you to stand out from the others?

(The video switches at the end to a cool sight we got to see) My lack of editing skills are also apparent, but I’m here to provide information not edit videos.
